Yoga is a vast and ancient art and science of self-development. Yet it is as simple as bringing full awareness into how one’s feet are meeting the floor, in this moment, or the quality of engagement felt in one’s thigh muscles compared to the fiery stretch behind the leg–or perhaps the more subtle experience of how the breath feels entering and leaving one’s body. David’s classes are designed to help the student connect with being in his or her body in the here and now, always with an eye to the larger spiritual and philosophical framework of Yoga.

Why practice in a group with a teacher?

The group energy is encouraging and supportive. The teacher may notice how misalignment of the knee might lead to injury, or recognize when the student is ready to take an asana to another level.

Some Suggestions To Optimize Your Classroom Experience

  • Arrive five to ten minutes early, so you don’t have to rush.
  • Wear clothing that is loose enough to allow movement. Shorts are recommended so that knee alignment can be observed.
  • Eat very lightly or not at all for two to three hours prior to class. Fruit, however, is fine to consume during the hour before class.
  • Set a clear intention to let go of expectations and to be open to the moment.
  • Turn off your cell phone and leave it outside of class!
